Whitehorse Rotary Centenary Award with Deakin University

This award was established as part of the celebration of the Centenary of Rotary in Australia in 2021. To mark this important milestone, the Rotary Clubs of Whitehorse created an award to recognise a student at Deakin University who has performed outstanding community service. This prestigious award includes a special Rotary pin and a sum of money. The Award was presented in 2021 and 2022.

2022 Award

Congratulations to Mariah Kirsopp who received the 2022 award ahead of 11 other applicants who each received Honourable Mentions. Several students attended the presentation via zoom.

The second project for our Rotary R100 Centenary celebrations culminated on Tuesday night in partnership with Deakin University – a special award for a student who displays the Rotary values.

All six clubs in the cluster and Whitehorse Rotary chipped in for a $1700 cash prize along with a special pin. We had nearly 20 students submit some fantastic applications which were assessed by a panel of four members within the organising committee.

Congratulations to Indigo Erez, a Bachelor of Psychology honours student, who was chosen as the winner of the inaugural award.

Here is Indigo with the champion of this initiative, MASH’s Richard Groom, the club’s president Val Crees, and Rotary District 9810 governor Alma Reynolds, at the presentation on Tuesday night.
